Preamble
After detailed discussions and negotiations, taking into consideration the current inflation and the consequent increase in the cost of living, the following have been agreed:
1. New increased wages and salaries
a)An increase of 13% on the basic of all Unionisable employees in grades 7 to 13.
b)This increase is effective from 1st July 2011. This agreement will remain in force until 30th June 2012.
2. Annual Leave
The numbers of days for annual leave have been increased from 26 to 28 days.
3. Sick Leave
Sick leave with full pay has been revised from the present 22 workings days to 30 working days in any one year.
4. Safari Allowance
Safari allowances for unionized staff while on official duty outside the estate have been revised as follows:
a) Break fast from Sh. 2,500 to Sh. 4,000
b) Lunch from Sh. 3,500 to Sh. 6,000
c) Dinner from Sh. 7,000 to Sh. 10,000
d) Accommodation from Sh. 2,0000 to Sh. 30,000
5. Meals for Kampala staff
Unionisable employees in Kampala office are to be paid a lunch allowance of Sh. 6,000 per day against the current 3,500 being paid.
6.Housing allowance
The housing allowance for eligible unionisable employees not housed by the Company will be paid as follows:
a) Job Grades 7-920 % of the basic
b) Job Grades 10- 13 25 % of the basic
c) The Kampala based staff housing allowance will remain 60% of the basic.
7. Bicycle Allowance
Bicycle allowance has been revised from Sh. 7000 to Sh. 10,000 per month.
8. On call allowance
On call allowance has been revised from Sh. 4000 to Sh.6,000 per 7 day period when one has been asked to be on call duty.
9. Acting Allowance
Acting allowance will be paid at a rate of 20 % of the basic salary of the employee in the acting capacity.
10. Funeral facilities
In the event of death of a employee, spouse and up to five children under the age of 18 years, the company shall provide the following burial contributions;
• A decent coffin, or Sh. 80,000 for adults and Sh.50,000 for infants
• A sufficient wrapping material or Sh. 12,000 for adults and Sh.6,000 for children to form a shroud.

11.Attendance recording
In order to instill and maintain discipline of workers on attendance and time keeping, an attendance recording system based on hand print has been introduced. Every employee will be required to do the following in order to qualify for pay for that day:
(a) Punch in when reporting for work at the beginning of days’s work/shift and at the time of reporting for work after lunch / meals;
(b) Punch out when leaving for lunch / meals and at the end of the day’s work/shift.
12. Duration of the Agreement
This agreement is an addendum to the main agreement signed between the Management of Kinyara Sugar Ltd. and NUPAWU dated 1st February 2006 and shall remain in force until otherwise advised.
